All I want…
…possibly in all the world is the high gloss turquoise Hunter rain boots. Damn them being discontinued.

Loved the styling of the Dsquared2 show. Not entirely convinced however that the cigarettes were the best fashion accessory!

Tonight is of course Oscars night and whilst I only saw one of the movies that’s up for best picture, The Help if you’re interested, but there is only one reason I spent the night multiple screen live streaming - the dresses!!
Look - Meryl Streep actually came dressed as an Oscar! Sorry Meryl, I really do love you.
Dating Ryan Gosling was probably the highlight of Sandra Bullocks (or indeed anyone else who did’s) life. This dress is most certainly a low point.
Oh no J Lo, just no.
Angelina in Versace Atelier - I’m not sure she’s showing enough leg here though (errrr?)
This definitely isn’t from the Oscars, it’s their new wax work from Madamne Tussauds. THEY DO NOT LOOK REAL!
Holy freakin’ shit. Gwynneth totally rocks this elegant, simple Tom Ford gown. I LOVE.
I want to dislike Emma Stone and I’m not entirely sure why. But this dress looks stunning on and obviously good for her posture as she’s having to hold her head reeeeeeally high over that massive bow.
It’s Tina Fey and I love her but that dress looks like it’s inflated in all the wrong places.
This guy can definitely be my boyfriend
Am I the only person on earth to completely dislike the peplum? This dress Michelle Williams is wearing to me just shows how unflattering they are!
Wow, Kelly Osbourne is hot.
Sylar looks like he is made of plastic. I still would though.
Awesome
Argh, I wanted Rooney Mara to look like shit - is that even possible? She wore white as well the crafty mare.
Gwynneth wins! Then Rooney Mara is 2nd.
This new offering from Milan based designer had a more of a feel of Spring rather than of fall. The runway was lined with greenery and the collection had Beccaria’s signature soft, feminine and airy colours all over it. I’m in love.
The eyelet boarders are beautiful and the velvet sage padded coat is just stunning. One of everything please!

So LFW, probably my favourite of all of them, has finally hit! The time difference here meant that I was still asleep for the first half today’s shows so spent most of the morning reading tweets and wondering when style.com was going to update.
Not being a massive fan of prints, I was surprised at how much I instantly loved Basso & Brookes combinations of clashing bold graphic prints and the mixture of colours.
Especially liked the massive houndstooth and geometric shapes along side the ombre strips. And the denim printed pants and jacket…total genius.

I stumbled upon the magazine archives in work today, it was a quiet day post yesterday’s show [ which you can see here ] so I selected a copy at random from the 80s to 90s shelf and spent all of the following 2 hours immersed in Collezioni from Spring/Summer ‘93.
Amidst the seas of lace, crochet and embroidery and just passed the oversized the pinstripe suits there were some gems that, for better or worse, I had to share.
The ‘better’ >

Giorgio Armani

D&G

John Galliano
The ‘worse’
Les Copains is clearly channeling Mick Hucknall here.

[I would like it to be known that I spent a good 3 minutes looking at photos of Mick Hucknall, time I can never get back and images that can never been unseen - my eyes have been raped.]
Aaaand finally a young Kate Moss modelling for Karl Lagerfeld with a different kind of line going up her nose. *snigger*

Completely obsessed with this colour right now…

Clockwise from top left;
My newly painted wall
Michael Kors Pre-Fall 12
Today I fell in love with Elie Saab.
I always eagerly await the couture shows and since there’s so few shows I can actually look at them all unlike RTW where it’s total show-verload (see what I did there).
I was totally awestruck by Givenchy, the details, the textures the contrast all as beautiful as we’ve now come to expect.
close ups:

Other highlights of mine included;
Armani Privé

Giambattista Valli

and Bouchra Jarrar
Walking down 34th I was stopped by a guy trying to sell me something or other, automatically I said ‘no thanks’ and carried on walking, only then did I realise that as his trying-to-be-funny opening line he had asked me ‘do you like black people’.
Moral of the story, know what you’re saying no to. Oopsies
So I’ve been in New York for coming up to 2 months now and have noticed that I’ve started to miss a few things from home. Apart from the glaringly obvious, family, friends, a decent cup of tea…and that’s HOT tea - WITH MILK, if you don’t specify it’s a lottery as to what you’ll end up with, I’ve been stuck with cold, sorry iced, tea on more than one occasion. And who knew that Lipton made tea bags? Not very good ones at that, sort of an incipid dishwatery grey made worse by the fact you’re usually served with half and half (if you don’t know what this is, it’s half milk half cream – healthy stuff. read: HEART ATTACK!!) instead of milk rendering your drink strangely and most unwelcomingly creamy, watery and totally tasteless.
Not that I will but I could talk FOR HOURS about my love for tea, but that goes straight into the glaringly obvious category of stuff that I miss.
So the not so obvious and in no particular order;
Men’s clothes – never realised how well dressed English men are, guys over here do not seem to give two shits what they look like, this makes me sad. Though it’s never good to have a guy look better than you some effort on their part is generally still appreciated and admired.
Having a washer / dryer in the house – nothing more to add, doing laundry is one of the biggest irritants of living here.
The metric system – so for alcohol it’s not that bad, although I did discover that a US pint is smaller than a UK pint, but for work it’s just a nightmare, pattern making with inches just makes no sense to me, 3/16 of inches…let’s just say it’s 5mm!?
Greenery, grass, trees, flowers, and everything in between. There’s a park near my apartment and visiting it reminds me of Wall-E, surrounded by sky scrapers all day the joy that overcomes him when he first sets eyes on the tiny plant seedling.
I mean these are pretty minor things and I’m sure after a few years of being here (yes that’s the plan) then I’ll be accustomed to it all as if it had always been this way. And of course there are things that I LOVE namely;
Happy hours, they’re not just from our cheapo holidays in Spain! Every night after work is happy hour, which in turn makes me very happy!
People always sticking to the right wherever they are walking – I like the efficiency of this although it does take out the fun of dodging around people like you’re a racing car driver.
Being the ‘English girl’ people actually LIKE my accent, this baffles me. OK so maybe if I had a perfect English accent, but I really don’t. I was told that I make the word ‘fuck’ sound glamorous… I’m from Manchester – what the shit?!
